APPLE VALLEY, CA – Assemblyman Thurston “Smitty” Smith responded Monday to Governor Gavin Newsom’s budget.

“Unfortunately, the Governor has shown how out of touch he is with ordinary Californians. We have a budget surplus of $21 billion, proving that we are over-taxing and under-serving our constituents. California taxpayers should not be on the hook for $2.4 billion per year to pay for healthcare to illegal immigrants, while at the same time ignoring the state’s worsening drought by not allocating a penny for surface storage projects.”
