APPLE VALLEY, CA – Today, Assemblyman Thurston “Smitty” Smith introduced legislation to assist handymen and small contractors doing minor work.

AB 1874 would change the $500 cap for unlicensed contract work, to only apply to the labor cost, rather than the cost of labor and materials.

“The rampant inflation and cost of doing business in California have created an undue hardship for many small contractors and handymen throughout the State,” said Assemblyman Smith. “Couple that with the fact threat these caps are over thirty years old and not tied to inflation.”
