This week in the Capitol‚ committee hearings resumed to consider the final legislative proposals from last year’s session‚ known as two-year bills.
A proposal to mandate rent control came before the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. Mandating rent caps will only worsen California’s housing affordability. It would push small‚ immigrant and working-class “mom-and-pop “owners out of business‚ inhibiting families’ generational wealth opportunities‚ accelerating the transfer of housing ownership to large Wall Street corporations.
