Calls upon all Californians to observe César Chávez’s birthday, March 31, as a day of public service, to recognize the hard work and self-sacrifice that farmworkers go through, and to learn from César Chávez’s life and his mission.
Observes March 21, 2017, as National Agriculture Day, and designates Wednesday, March 22, 2017, as California Agriculture Day.
Designates May 10, 2017, and each May 10 thereafter, as California Chinese Railroad Workers Memorial Day to recognize and honor the Chinese railroad workers who labored from 1865 to 1869 to build the Transcontinental Railroad.
Includes various clauses relating to commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the April 29, 1992 “civil unrest” in Los Angeles (a.k.a. the Los Angeles Riot). Resolves that the “civil unrest [was] a dark chapter in California’s history that must not be forgotten as we strive for improved relations between communities, in particular communities of color, and law enforcement.”
Designates the month of May 2017 as Lupus Awareness Month.
Proclaims the week of May 14, 2017, to May 20, 2017, and the week of Mother’s Day to the following Sunday each year after, as Women’s Health Week. Encourages and promotes efforts to increase awareness about all women’s health issues.
Designates Monday, June 12, 2017, as Loving Day, to be observed as the official commemoration of the landmark 1967 United States Supreme Court decision, Loving v. Virginia, which legalized interracial marriage in the United States.
Declares Thursday, May 25, 2017, as Red Nose Day.
Proclaims the week of July 23, 2017, to July 29, 2017, as Megan’s Law Awareness Week.
Proclaims the month of June 2017 as Immigrant Heritage Month.
Recognizes July 26, 2017, as the 69th anniversary of the desegregation of the United States Armed Forces.
Recognizes the month of June 2017 as National Scoliosis Awareness Month in California.
