Sacramento – This week, the Fresno County Department of Public Health shut down an illegal laboratory experimenting with dangerous biochemical agents. Assemblyman Mathis issued the following statement upon the discovery & closure of the lab:
“The shocking revelation regarding the illegal biological lab that was secretly working with dangerous chemicals in Reedley demonstrates the need for us to focus more on regulations covering this area of science. I will be looking into what laws are currently in place regarding this subject and how law enforcement can be more effectively utilized so no more of these illegal and dangerous labs can operate anywhere in our State. Along with my District partners in Reedley, we will craft legislation to equip city, county, and state officials to help ensure businesses coming into our communities are safe and secure, and that we know who they are. I look forward to working with both Democrats and Republicans to ensure our state is protected from those who seek to abuse science for unethical purposes.”
