Designates September 4, 2021, and the same date each year thereafter, as Taekwondo Day. Raises awareness about the history of Taekwondo as a traditional Korean martial art, and recognizes the physical and mental health benefits it brings to practitioners.
Proclaims January 13, 2021, as Korean American Day. Provides the annual commemoration of the Korean American community.
Proclaims April 2021 as Black April Memorial Month, a special time for Californians to remember the lives lost during the Vietnam War era, and to hope for a more humane and just life for the people of Vietnam, in recognition of the great tragedy and suffering and lives lost during the Vietnam War. Memorializes the impact of the Fall of Saigon on the Vietnamese and the effect it had for the Vietnamese American community.
Resolves that AMVETS, since 1945, has exhibited leadership, advocacy, and service for California’s Veterans and their families. Commends AMVETS Department of California for providing benefits and services to their fellow Veterans, as well as playing an important role in the civic life of their communities for 75 years. Commends the work and history of AMVETS in supporting veterans.
Recognizes May 2021 as Blue Star Mothers of America Month in California. Celebrates the history of Blue Star Mothers of America, Inc. and its and contribution to United States military personnel and their families.
Proclaims September 26, 2021, as Gold Star Mothers’ and Families’ Day in California. Recognizes the sacrifice made by the families whose children lost their life due to serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Proclaims September 2021 as California Firefighter Appreciation Month and September 25, 2021, as California Firefighters Memorial Day. Urges Californians to always remember the firefighters who have given their lives in the line of duty and express their appreciation to those firefighters who continue to protect our families. Honors fallen firefighters.
Proclaims the week of January 31 to February 6, 2021, as Physician Anesthesiologist Week. Raises awareness about the crucial role physician anesthesiologists play in the medical field especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This measure would declare August 7, 2021, as Purple Heart Day in California.
This measure would commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
Proclaims February 6, 2021, to February 13, 2021, as California Court Reporting and Captioning Week. Requests that the Governor issue a proclamation calling on the people of California to observe the day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and educational activities. Raises awareness about the significance and rigor of work done by court reporters and captioners throughout the state.
Recognizes the week of February 21-27, 2021, as Engineers Week, in recognition of the services bestowed upon the citizens of the State of California by engineers. Promotes recognition of the services provided in the state by engineers.
Commemorates February 25, 2021, as Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. Honors this occasion as a way to encourage female participation in the engineering industry.
Proclaims May 16-22, 2021, as Special Districts Week. Encourages all Californians to be involved in their communities and be civically engaged with their local government. Celebrates special districts in California.
Recognizes February 2021 as Black History Month, urges all citizens to join in celebrating the accomplishments of African Americans during Black History Month, and encourages the people of California to recognize the many talents of African Americans and the achievements and contributions they make to their communities to create equity and equality for education, economics, and social justice. Recognizes the significance in protecting citizens’ right to vote and remedying racial discrimination in voting. Provides the annual commemoration of this important period, but also indirectly critiques voter identification laws as discriminatory.
Proclaims February 2021 as Financial Aid Awareness Month. Resolves that “the Legislature use its institutional role and resources to raise awareness of the importance of financial aid and mobilize efforts to increase completion rates of financial aid applications to maximize the state’s investment in its students, especially low-income and first-generation students.” Emphasizes the importance of financial aid for California students.
ACR 23: Construction Industry Suicide Prevention Awareness Day
Proclaims March 18, 2021, as Construction Industry Suicide Prevention Awareness Day in California. Raises awareness of the heightened risk of suicide among construction workers.
Recognizes May 15, 2021, as Áo Dài Day. Honors a day celebrating a Vietnamese traditional long gown.
Recognizes February 19, 2021, as National Caregivers Day and express gratitude to caregivers for their unwavering commitment to the care of their clients and families especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Honors the work of caregivers especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Designates the month of September 2021 as Opioid Awareness Month in California. Details the history of opioid use and recent approaches to pain management.
Recognizes the first Monday in March as COVID-19 Victims and Survivors Memorial Day, in remembrance of those marked by COVID-19 and those who have lost their lives, and in honor of those who continue to suffer from the impact of this virus. Urges local residents to continue taking preventative measures such as social distancing and following public health orders to mitigate spread of this virus, in tribute to essential workers and those who rose in service to protect the public. Memorializes the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and honors those who it has affected.
