ACR 1 – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Honors the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Provides the annual commemoration of Dr. King and the holiday in his honor. 

ACR 2 – Maternal Health Awareness Day
Proclaims January 23, 2023, as Maternal Health Awareness Day to draw attention to the efforts that have improved maternal health in California and to highlight the need for continued improvement of maternal health for all women. Raises awareness about the maternal health challenges during pregnancy and California’s progress in combating them.

ACR 3 – Physician Anesthesiologist Week
Designates January 29, 2023, to February 4, 2023, as Physician Anesthesiologist Week. Raises awareness about the anesthesiology profession and celebrates the essential work done by physician anesthesiologists.

ACR 6 – National School Counseling Week
Recognizes February 6, 2023, to February 10, 2023, as National School Counseling Week. Promotes the importance of students’ mental health in their academic success, and school counselors’ related role.

ACR 8 – Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day
Proclaims February 23, 2023, as Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day. Honors this occasion as a way to encourage female participation in the engineering industry.

ACR 9 – Engineers Week
Recognize the week of February 19, 2023, to February 25, 2023, as Engineers Week. Honors the contributions that engineers make in their devotion to building a better California.

ACR 10 – Children’s Dental Health Month
Recognizes and declares the month of February 2023 as Children’s Dental Health Month. Resolves that the Legislature is committed to supporting efforts to raise awareness about the importance of oral health and preventing oral health diseases in children. Raises awareness about the inequities in children’s dental health care.

ACR 11 – National Caregivers Day
Recognizes February 17, 2023, as National Caregivers Day in California. Honors the caregivers across the country whose care enables millions of Americans who are aging or have a disability to remain as independent as possible in their own homes.

ACR 12 – Trisomy Awareness Month
Declares the month of March 2023 as Trisomy Awareness Month in California and commends this observation to all or our citizens. Calls attention to a condition that results in developmental disabilities.

ACR 13 – California Science and Technology Week
Designates February 13-17, 2023, as California Science and Technology Week. Celebrates the role of science and the California Council on Science and Technology in the state.

ACR 15 – Black History Month
Recognizes February 2023 as Black History Month. Recognizes the significance in protecting citizens’ right to vote and remedying racial discrimination in voting. Provides the annual commemoration of this important period, but also indirectly critiques voter identification laws as discriminatory.

ACR 21 – California Kidney Day
Recognizes March 9, 2023, as California Kidney Day. Promotes awareness about chronic kidney disease throughout California.

ACR 23 – Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month
Proclaims the month of March 2023 as Bleeding Disorders Awareness Month in California. Aims to bring awareness and greater understanding of bleeding disorders and those who suffer from them in California.

ACR 24 – Women in Construction Week
Proclaims the week of March 5, 2023, to March 11, 2023, as Women in Construction Week and requests that the Governor issue a proclamation calling on the people of the great State of California to observe the week with appropriate programs and education activities. Emphasizes a need to encourage more women to join the construction industry.

ACR 27 – St. Patrick’s Day, the Good Friday Agreement, and diplomatic relations between the State of California and Ireland
Recognizes St. Patrick’s Day, the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement, and 90 years of diplomatic relations between the State of California and Ireland. Celebrates Irish heritage and commemorates the 90-year relationship between California and Ireland.

HR 5 – Lunar New Year
Joins Asian and Pacific Islander communities throughout the state in celebrating January 22, 2023, as the beginning of the Lunar New Year and extends best wishes for a peaceful and prosperous Lunar New Year to all Californians. Recognizes the celebration of a new year for certain Asian and Pacific Islander communities.

HR 7 – National Human Trafficking Awareness Month
Recognizes the month of January 2023 as National Human Trafficking Awareness Month and culminates in the annual observation of National Freedom Day on February 1, 2023. Encourages greater awareness of human trafficking within the State of California, the United States of America, and internationally and promotes the human rights of every person.

HR 8 – Enrolled Agents’ Day
Recognizes February 15, 2023, as Enrolled Agents’ Day to commemorate the contributions of professional enrolled agents for over 50 years to California taxpayers. Celebrates an industry’s work in ensuring compliance with tax laws.

HR 10 – School Governance
Proclaims the month of January 2023 as School Board Recognition Month and declares the state’s appreciation to every school board and school board member in California and recognizes their dedicated commitment to serving the needs of pupils in our communities. Honors school board members and the hard work they do for the schools, parents and children of California.

HR 11 – The Release of Eyvin Hernández
Stands in solidarity with Eyvin Hernández, a public defender for the County of Los Angeles who currently is being wrongfully detained by the government of Venezuela, and others in advocating for his immediate release. Calls on the President, his National Security Advisor, his Secretary of State, and his Special Envoy for Hostage Affairs to act with urgency to work towards the release of Eyvin Hernández. Calls on the entire California congressional delegation to work toward his release and to speak up for Mr. Hernández, as appropriate. Recounts the details of wrongful imprisonment of Eyvin Hernández and calls upon the federal government to work with urgency on Eyvin Hernández’s release.

HR 12 – Japanese American Concentration Camps
Declares February 19, 2023, as a Day of Remembrance in this state to increase public awareness of the events surrounding the incarceration of Americans of Japanese ancestry during World War II.  Acknowledges the government’s infringement of the rights of Japanese Americans and its subsequent effort at atonement.

HR 13 – Read Across America Day
Joins the California Teachers Association in recognizing March 2, 2023, as Read Across America Day. Celebrates the Read Across America campaign to raise awareness about the importance of reading and the positive impact it has made in California schools.

HR 16 – Rare Disease Day
Proclaims February 28, 2023, as Rare Disease Day in California. Raises awareness about rare diseases and conditions that affect millions of Californians.

HR 18 – California Agriculture Day
Designates Tuesday, March 21, 2023, as California Agriculture Day and observes March 21, 2023, as National Agriculture Day. Commemorates agriculture’s importance in daily lives, its role in keeping Californians nourished, and its contributions to the state’s economy.

HR 20 – Vaisakhi
Recognizes this year’s Vaisakhi celebration on Thursday, April 14, 2023. Celebrates an important day for Sikh Americans.

HR 23 – Cesar Chavez Day
Calls upon all Californians to observe César Chávez’s birthday, March 31, as a day of public service, and to recognize the hard work and self-sacrifice that farmworkers go through to feed all the families in the state. Celebrates the life and legacy of César Chávez and the policy changes he inspired.

HR 24 – Major League Baseball Opening Day 2023
Honors Major League Baseball Opening Day 2023 and pledges to continue to support and promote baseball in California and to ensure that the state remains a hub of baseball excellence for years to come. Supports the professional baseball league, including its team owners and executives.

HR 25 – A Resolution Condemning the Human Rights Violations against the Uyghur People in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and Supporting the Work of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act
Condemns the human rights violations against the Uyghur people in China’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and supports the work of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act. Denounces China’s oppressive treatment of a Muslim minority and highlights efforts to restrict imports from the region.

HR 27 – Cambodian Genocide Memorial Week
Recognizes April 17-23, 2023, as Cambodian Genocide Memorial Week, and calls upon all Californians to observe the week by participating in appropriate activities and programs. Honors the history of the Cambodian people and their contributions to the state and country.

SCR 6 – Iranian protests
Stands in solidarity with the people of Iran in their fight for self-determination, their opposition to torture, and their resistance to the oppression of their personal liberties. Supports the United States government’s sanctions and other actions against Iran in response to the repression of protests. Denounces Iran’s oppression against protests for women’s rights and freedoms, while also supporting federal actions to respond.

SCR 9 – Data Privacy Week and Day
Declares the week of January 22, 2023, to January 28, 2023, as Data Privacy Week and January 28, 2023, as Data Privacy Day. Raises public awareness about the importance of privacy rights and data protection.

SCR 10 – Korean American Day
Proclaims January 13, 2023, as Korean American Day. Provides the annual commemoration of the Korean American community.

SCR 12 – Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Honors the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Provides the annual commemoration of Dr. King and the holiday in his honor.

SCR 14 – Eating Disorders Awareness Week
Designates the week beginning on February 20, 2023, to February 26, 2023, as Eating Disorders Awareness Week. Brings attention to the extent and risks of eating disorders.

SCR 15 – Stand Against Hate Action Day
Proclaims January 28, in perpetuity, as the Stand Against Hate Action Day. Resolves that the Legislature denounces hate crimes, hate incidents, and hateful rhetoric directed against individuals on the basis of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender and gender identity, national origin, age, disability, and immigration status. Marks January 28 as a day to stand against hate crimes.

SCR 18 – Wear Red Day and American Heart Month
Declares February 3, 2023, as Wear Red Day in California, and recognizes February 2023 as American Heart Month in California. Notes the disproportionate prevalence of heart disease and stroke in women.

SCR 19 – California Almond Day
Proclaims February 16, 2023, as California Almond Day. Celebrates the almond industry in California.

SCR 41 – Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Day
Honors the life and legacy of United States Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and proclaims March 15, 2023, as Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Day, a day of remembrance and education to ensure that all Californians always honor and remember a vibrant guardian of equality for all. Extols Justice Ginsburg’s life accomplishments and opinions at the Supreme Court.
